Hate to pass on sad news, but the FOT site reported that Jack Drews died while on the track this weekend. Never met Jack personally, but he definitely was one of the good guys, and contributed a lot of innovations to the TR world. A sad day.

A driver from Illinois died Saturday afternoon in a crash at Grattan Raceway.

Jack Drews, 72, of Geneseo, Ill., was driving a 1961 Triumph TR-4 in a vintage-car race when he crashed coming out of the first turn, according to the Kent County Sheriff's Department.

According to the sheriff's report, Drews was driving about 110 mph coming out of a straightaway, and his car did not make the turn, going airborne before striking the outer raceway barrier. Drews was pronounced dead on the scene.

The cause of the accident was under investigation.

He died doing what he loved most.

Can we all be that lucky when it's our time to go?
