I get a miss at about 3500 to 4000 when I accelerate smoothly.

When I put the hammer down I have no miss.

Any ideas, I am about out of them and am about to take all the electricals apart and the carbs as well and work it all over.

Any dumb ideas are appreciated and will get the old gray cells clicking.

what color are your plugs?

Vacuum leaks tend to go with that symptom. To me, those are number 1 when related to load/throttle position.

Just a dumb idea.

Just to experiment--- rich up both of your carbs by 2 flats each and try it again.

Yeah, you can mask a vacuum leak by going rich.

Another thing is, not knowing type of distributor, if the ground wire is broken, partial advance plate movement can cause an open, while WOT can actully pull the plate tight enough to ground...

My LBC did a little of that, combination of blown advance can, lean carbs, wrong plugs, but sorted out tha gas-station maintenance....

Lean carbs could well be the problem. I would definately try The two flats suggestion first to see. If it suddenly happened, I would then look for a vac or intake leak of somesort.

Ok folks, thanks. Will do some testing tomorrow weather permiting.

Made the carbs about 2 1/2 flats richer. Solved most of the problem.

Guess I need to pull the air cleaners and do a real job on them, seems like that just may be the problem. Too lean.

Boy does it go when you stand on it.
