Do these help a 'B' engine and if so what is the best length?

Unless you are going to run the engine at 5,000 rpm and higher, as in racing, velosity stacks do nothing for the engine with the exception of letting dirt in. I wouldn't put them on any of my cars. JMHO. PJ
 
Why not just run the factory ones, supplied with the SU, and then you can use K&N RU-4410 air filters
