Valve seat recession/ lead substitute

This follows my recent thread on valve seat recession.
It seems many have had issues with the problem as outlined in that thread.
Has anyone experience with a readly available lead substitute/additive that can alleviate the problem?
Are there any real lead substitutes available or is it just snake oil?
Long term history of use etc......
 
There was a test done in the UK a few years back, that concluded that most of them were useless. As I recall, the only exception that was also available in the US was RedLine Lead substitute.

I found the test online and Redline was the only US product endorsed by the Brit classic auto clubs after the controlled tests (3 Brit products were too).
