Valve seat recession/ lead substitute

This follows my recent thread on valve seat recession.
It seems many have had issues with the problem as outlined in that thread.
Has anyone experience with a readly available lead substitute/additive that can alleviate the problem?
Are there any real lead substitutes available or is it just snake oil?
Long term history of use etc......

There was a test done in the UK a few years back, that concluded that most of them were useless. As I recall, the only exception that was also available in the US was RedLine Lead substitute.

Randall,
I found the test online and Redline was the only US product endorsed by the Brit classic auto clubs after the controlled tests (3 Brit products were too).
Thanks for the tip.
