Does the stock Valve cover on a 67 GT have a breather tube?
Anybody have a pic of a stock cover?

Vping, Good morning... I have a late '66 B that is my daily driver... unfortunately today was not one of the daily days.... I will check it when I get home and send you a picture. If memory serves, however, I think that it does not have a breather tube. As you know, the B changed from MKI to MKII in early '67; different dash, etc...and I don't know if any engine compartment schtuff changed at that time... Ron /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I don't expect you should have a vent on yours, Vince. The 18GB was vented from the front side cover.

DrEntropy, so there you have it.... vented on the sidecover.. guess the memory isn't so bad after all....
Ron

5-mains never had a vent on the valve cover. Only 3-mains (up to 1964 models). I can send you a photo of my '67 engine bay if it helps, although it's RHD.

Sooo. OK... I'll check my 5 main '66 to see what I can see.... What a conundrum!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Ron

Other than a few small items, this is basically a stock late '67 MGB GT engine bay. The oil filter is inverted because it's right hand drive.

(not stock: coolant expansion tank, bonnet stay, plug wires, stainless oil cooler hoses, work lamp, chrome dashpot covers)

And what a lovely engine room it is.

Boy, Steve, I'm glad you posted that photo - I forgot to grab an inverted oil filter adapter for my '63 that I'm converting to RHD!

Yeah, that's something you never think about. When I first got the car I was baffled and annoyed that the previous owner, who knew these cars better than just about anyone, had put an inverted adapter on there. Took me 20 minutes before it dawned on me that it was factory installed and was there for a reason. Don't forget the RHD steering column cowl also.

Got the cowl - I'm worrying about accelerator cable right now.

Steve, I'll stick with the LHD... I rented a car in the Caymans a while back and had enough trouble not running into things without dealing with a left hand shift....everything was bass ackwards... Although, a RHD A or B would be kind of cool.../ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif

NICE engine room, by the way...
Ron

Vping, Did steve's post answer your question? If not, I will be happy to check my '66 and take a picture.... 'tis my driver in much in need of restoration... soon, soon, as soon as the 'A' is finished... Ron

But, his photo is correct - no vent....though later cars with full emissions did have them.

You can order things like that from Moss UK, Tony! Or for something as simple as a cable, have it made locally. You can even use a mountain bike brake cable. If it won't reach, get a tandem cable which is nearly twice as long.

To all you gentlemen who drive on the wrong side of the road....it's YOU who have inverted oil filters!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Yes it did. Someone was looking at my engine recently and thought that it was wrong. I was sure that it was right so I figured I'd ask.

Steve, Very nice looking engine bay.

At least we're not standing upside down /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/savewave.gif

I may have missed it Tony, but why are you going to rhd?

Keeps me out of bars?

Nah, I just thought it would be neat to convert the '63 as it gets completely restored...conversation piece, I guess.

Thank you Tony, I don't think I'd be tempted even as a conversation piece. I have enough problems staying in the right lanes with lhd. I've been here six years and I still get it wrong occasionally. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif I'd have no show in a rhd vehicle!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
