V-8 Morris truck!

We had some fun on another thread discussing putting a Hemi in a Mini (we like a little alliteration now and then). Well, today at a car show, I saw something nearly as unbelievable--a 1959 Morris Minor pickup truck with a Ford 302 V-8 crammed--and I do mean CRAMMED--under the hood. I think he had to remove the engine to change the spark plugs (not really, but it was tight to say the least).

The radiator was in the bed of the pickup, immediately behind the cab, in a vented aluminum box with a huge electric fan attached. There was also an aluminum fuel cell under the bed and a fuel filler cap in the bed floor near the tailgate. The only problem I saw was the drum brakes on the rear, although the front brakes were discs.

And you can guess the paint color--BRITISH RACING GREEN, of course!!! One more very unusual example of a British car sporting good ol' American iron! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/england.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/patriot.gif

Pretty wild.

Remember all those Fiat based dragsters from the sixties?

They had hemis and all sorts of big block monster motors, squeezed into a Fiat "Topolino" frame, which is not much bigger than a Mini. (But not nearly as cool)
