They are absolutely awsome, are they not?!!! My some is stationed with them at the 8th & I in Wash.D.C. (He is in the Commandant's Own Drum & Bugle Corps) I have watched them drill and the discipline these young men have is something to behold! Anyone visiting D.C. through the summer months owes it to themselves to catch an Evening Parade held every Fri. night at the 8th & I barracks, or every Tues afternoon at the Iwo Jima Memorial in Arlington Cemetery (both performances free to the public!)

The soloist (the tall one) playing the melophone (the large-belled bugle) is my son!!

PS: They are known as the Silent Drill Team because the whole drill is performed without any vocal commands!!

Congrats! I cannot imagine playing with GLOVES on.

Supremely impressive...

Close quarters with fixed bayonets...Ouch :eeek:

There have been some serious mishaps while drilling!!! :eeek:

Those folks out there, including the other armed services, are my super heros. I love them all! God bless them and keep them safe, as they keep us.

How many of you know what an M1 Thumb is? Quite impressive. Brings back memories of my high school drill team days in Houston, 1962. Sans bayonets, of course.
