OK in order to get the front motor mounts, removed homemade bracket from exhaust pipe. Next step was to drop the tranny crossmember to fix that mount. Removed the exhaust system and found it is shot so I will get a new system (cracked near manifold with multiple old welds, broken mounts, and half crushed muffler), then pulling the crossmember found it was not put together at all correctly with no bolts in parts and shot bushings, then looking at crossmember see it is tweeked in multiple different directions. This is obviously remnant of the crash this car was in sometime in the past. I found the exhaust system on Moss for reasonable price, I am now looking for a replacement cross member. I found some outfit on Ebay called "British Masters" who has one for my model year. The unit is used and $90, they say location is in California, I will find out today when I call them. Does anyone have a contact for used parts? The bank account is taking a hit, but I figure while I'm here better get it right, want to spend time on the road not on my back under the car.
 
Boggsy64, The cross member is not a part that generally takes a lot of abuse, so the used one should be fine. Sorry I don't have one, but what year is your car, I have a buddy that may have one and we are just up the road in Salisbury.

British Masters is in Vista, CA, just north of San Diego. They try to sell a lot on ebay, but most of their stuff remains unsold because their prices are high. If you have time, you might hang out on ebay for a week or so and see what turns up.

I looked through my bookmarks and found only one place that specifically advertises used parts. The second is an ebay store, which seems to have a lot. You might see if you can contact them outside ebay and maybe they would have something.

I'm sure I have a good used crossmember for at least half that price and closer to you for lower shipping cost.

PM me and we'll talk, I supply a lot of parts to folks here on BCF, I'm sure they will give me good recs.

Sorry got impatient and in a hurry, already ordered from British masters. I know price is the law of demand and I have a trip to see a Bama game in September, with my girlfriend, and need to get this thing together. Things are moving now after getting stuck on motor mounts..need to keep momentum or give up...laughing! I will keep contact info on file and everyone needs a good rolodex!
 
Glen Towery in Delaware, seems to have a dozen of everything, Bob White from NC, who post here, also has a lot of spares. Both of those guys are good, fair honest men. IMHO British Masters on Ebay grossly overprices everything they sell. OH and Bob Wjite is in Monroe, NC, maybe 30 minutes from you
 
I also have a couple available cross members in the pile. Bring a trailer to my place and I'll load it with MGB parts. Actually bring two trailers!:excitement: PJ

I forgot to add, I'd love to get rid of this stuff! Tired of tripping over it!
