I got my chrome bumper & my Grille today.
Here are the results - don't ever let anyone tell you this is easy work. But it sure is rewarding!

I'll be getting that Monza exhaust soon, so the back will look pretty cool very soon.

Re: UPS & FEDEX brought me goodies today

Hey! There's a wee head peerin' out at us in one'a them pix!

Nice "weight reduction" job, too, Rick.

BTW: What's that pizza pan on the hood? Periscope port? Snorkel for off-roadin'? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Re: UPS & FEDEX brought me goodies today

I like the look better. Could the round thingy be a pop up air scoop.

Re: UPS & FEDEX brought me goodies today

Nice work, lookin good. Enjoy, it's a long summer.

Re: UPS & FEDEX brought me goodies today

Nice work, sure does clean up the car getting rid of those large bumpers.

Re: UPS & FEDEX brought me goodies today

And for the next trick we teach it to squat.

Re: UPS & FEDEX brought me goodies today

Looks nice, do you notice a handling difference?

Also are you planning on lowering the suspension as well?

Pat

Re: UPS & FEDEX brought me goodies today

Nice job! Must have taken a lot of work lining everything up so well.

Enjoy it!

Re: UPS & FEDEX brought me goodies today

Good idea on the RB lights in the fenders!!

Re: UPS & FEDEX brought me goodies today

Thanks, it really makes me feel a lot better about it's looks.

Wow Jack - congrats on the 'Great Pumpkin' status!
Yes, I'll be teaching it to squat real soon, maybe this coming weekend - especially if the new exhaust unit doesn't arrive by then.

The round dealie is just a temporary patch, until I can either replace the hood, fix it permanently (weld) or put on a big monster scoop!

Thanks Tony, I was at a loss about what to do, then I thought hey -I have some high density rubber here I could use as a back plate and screw the lights in on an angle.
It's not perfect, but it works.

Cutting the channels that had the front bumper mounts was the worst part of it. The sawzall cut through just fine until it reached the bottoms. Then it wasn't fun.

I sprayed it behind the grill with the brown rustoleum, just to prevent rust until I get a can of flat black. Probably today. I need to respray the black under the doors anyway!

Sweet..no more "RAT ROD"....hey Jack ditto on the congrats....I've only 9799 more posts to go!!

Re: UPS & FEDEX brought me goodies today

Thanks Bibber,

Oh I was going to mention about how much water came out when I cut into those channels (the bumper mounts).
WOW - it was a deluge! I was cutting from underneath, thinking I could get it cut back behind the radiator. That didn't work out but wow, a flood of water came out!
They really engineered some great places to hold water in these little cars!

Re: UPS & FEDEX brought me goodies today

Thanks Donn, it makes me smile.

Heh. I didn't do the wood blocks.
I decided the bumper gives the illusion of them being there so why bother?

Maybe when I have everything else done and my MGC restored and I'm wondering what else I can do I will go ahead and make the wood blocks and attach them...
