TR2/3/3A upper fulcrum pin TR3 suspension

I'm a bit concerned that the bolts I received from TRF for the upper fulcrum pin or not the correct size. These would be the two bolts and two "screws" that attach the upper fulcrum pin to the frame/"shock absorder tower".

I ordered HB 914 and HU 908 for fulcrum pin mounting hardware. For HB 914 I was sent four (2 for each side) 3/8" by 1 3/4" bolt. This bolt seems too long. Is this the correct size mounting hardware?

I could not get the https://www.rucompatible.com/triumph/ website with the parts catalog to come back up so can not confirm numbers.

Note, I have not dismantled my current suspension to verify correct size.

Try it again. I tried it and thought it wouldn't work, but after some time, there it was. But I have e-mailed Barry to let him know anyway.

if you click on the link it will take a long time because it is now a single PDF that is about 28 megs. I would recomend that you right click on the link and "Save As" and put it in a folder on your computer- that way you always have it handy. 28meg download on a very busy T1 at work took me over an hour to download. You might want to just do the "Save As" trick before you go to bed and let it run overnight. If you are still on Dial-Up it could take several hours to get it downloaded.

I've got the harware manual in electric form around here somewhere... Once I can find it again I'll let you know the dimensions of those parts.

HB914 = 3/8 U.N.F. 1 3/4 long

HU908 = 3/8 U.N.F. 1 " long

according to the parts manual this is HU908 - bolt - Fulcrum Pin to Chassis Frame. Same number shows up in the Roadster Factory's version of the Triumph Parts Manual that I have from the early 80's back when they still printed one. (all hand-typed using the same plate illustrations as the official manual)

Given their scheme for numbering hardware I'd think that this is the correct bolt length but I can't say for sure. I seem to recall re-using the one I had or the one from my parts car.

OK, I found the parts catalog that I printed off forementioned website when it was still saved as a low resolution .jpg file (prior to the transfer to .pdf which I can not open--on a phone modem). The numbers for the mounting hardware for the upper fulcrum pin per side should be: 2 "Screws" (HU 0908--these are actually bolts); 2 bolts (HB 0914) with associated 2 nuts (HN 2009); 2 plain washers (WP 0009--likely associated with bolts); and 4 spring washers (WL 0209).

I just can't help but think the HB 0914 bolts I received from TRF (3/8" X 1 3/4") are too long and will thus interfer with the alumium spacer (packing piece) that sits on top of the road spring. I'll call Moss in the morning and see if I can't get a bolt size from them.

Hi I understand what you are taking about; I had the same thoughts. I think you will find that the aluminum piece is thin enough to miss the nut and tail end of the bolt. You might have to push the top rubber packing piece (in at first) to get it by the nut, but when you compress the spring pan up with the spring and the two other rubber packing pieces every thing will be very tight. Just to make sure you know that one side has a caged nut and the other uses a bolt and free nut.
