upper bushings install

I recently installed new upper polyurethane bushings (from Moss) when I went to tighten up the stud it would bottom out on the stud shoulder but there was still slack between the areas where the bushing is (between kinpin top/strut area) - I compared to the old bushings & the new bushings thickness was a bit thinner (the larger section that is visable), I placed a large washer against the one bushing & stud head (as shown in picture) & everything seems okay now.
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this or am I missing something ? ... because of the shoulder on the pin & the retainer bolt, there doesn't seem to be much choice except adding a washer as I did...

I think that washer belongs there.
 
The original rubber washers had steel inserts that set the distance the bushings occupied. Without that insert, your solution seems fine and I can not think of any problems it would cause.
 
Okay thanks for the re-assurance, you guy's are a wealth of knowledge - I notice what Trevor means with the steel inserts that were moulded in on the originals, makes sense - think they would have made the polyurethanes thicker to make up for that difference when your dealing with a shouldered/fixed distance pin... ohh well no biggy they will be a big improvement over what was in there... especially the passenger side - yikes the old ones were lookin nasty ! :smile:
