Upholstery makers in England? Any ideas?

Nick, you out there?

I recently purchased two nice Miata seats for my TR6 and I want to have them covered with the same color and texture chestnut vinyl that I now have. I cannot find anyone stateside who can supply the diamond material and Moss suggested going to England, but what do I know about that?

Anyone know who supplies the raw material for these guys here in the states? I have a shop that will custom make the covers, if I can get the raw material for him to work with. He is looking as well, but I thought that two of us doing this would be better.

I'd even settle for a matching chestnut leather, if all else fails and he can roll and pleat the inserts without the diamonds. probably be a lot more comfortable anyhow.

Several options, just need a source to buy it.

Paul- You might give these guys a call... they have been aroung a long time. Even if they don't have the material maybe they can point you in the right direction.

You seem to be pretty Close with TRF. Ask the magic carpet people if you can buy some material

Never gave that thought Don. Good idea. I'll send Charles son an email and ask him. He's the buyer, so he'll probably know. DUHHHH!! I shoulda thought of that!!

Doug, who is Larry Learn?

I just found Robsport.

You never know. Maybe they could start a new line covering Miata seats with TR colors.

If you are puttin in Miata seats why fret, any furniture store can get many leather choices.

Paul,

See my reply in the udder place....

Cheers,
Tush

Furniture stores????

I just bought two Lazy Boy recliners this fall. They have great grades of leather and many choices, so I need to stop by and see how close they can come. The longer this goes, the less important the diamond pattern is, as he can roll and pleat that panel to look almost the same anyhow.

I remember asking Aldridge Trimming if they could put the diamond pattern in my leather seat and they told me "no", but they can do it in vinyl.

Thanks Frank. Checking all leads. It's nice not worrying about finding a good pair of seats and having time until spring rolls around to get this done.

I was talking to the shop this morning and I may drop the diamond pattern as it can not be put into leather. Eddie can roll and pleat that area to look like the TR6 seats, so if I got the leather route I will drop it. I may even drop it for the vinyl. They're not OEM seats anyhow, so who cares?

Paul - you left out a very important detail. Do the come in red?

No red. I am staying original in the color. Sorry Don!!

Jonathon Skinner replied to me and he has the material available. I just need to get him the yardage needed. I'm also going to skip the diamond pattern, as that is done with a heat press and to the exact shape of the TR6 seat, so it would not fit the Miata pattern very well.

Eddie will add rolled and pleated center panels that will look like the old TR6 pattern, but without the diamonds.

I may order enough material to get a new tonneau made that will fit over these seats and around my roll bar.

Another project that just takes on a life of it's own and continues to grow............
