TR2/3/3A Unwanted cruise control?

After replacing the head gasket and fresh ignition tune up the old TR3 is running better than ever. Lots of power and fun to drive. The problem is occasionally say I'm going 30mph and lift my foot off the gas the car tends to stay at 30mph maybe dropping slightly. I have the linkage sorted out and lubricated, springs seem OK. I sprayed silicone lube on the acc pedal nylon bushings at the cross shaft at the firewall. How can I track down what is causing the sticking ? I can kick the gas pedal and get the throttle to come off. Karl

Karl - if you've checked the linkage at the carbs and through the firewall - take a look at where the pedal linkage goes through the firewall.

On my '59, the pedal linkage would get caught on the carpeting. I cut away the offending bit of carpet, and the problem disappearred.

Good idea. I will have a look there. (y)
