University Motors on You Tube

Bless him, there's some good vids in there.

Neat.

that's good stuff!

To tie in with a recent topic, I noticed he covered setting the static timing on A and B type engines on there too! And made it look so easy! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

He did not mention 180 out, lol

Great service he is doing, someone that knows him should tell him so.

he's got ~a lot~ of videos on there. I just watched his 5 minute universal swap that turned out to be more like 6 minutes and 30 seconds. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

That's great stuff. It'll com in handy. Can you save a youtube video to your harddrive?

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search?q=downloadhelper&status=4
Here is the link for downloadhelper for Firefox, if you still use Internet Explorer perhaps there is a link at microsoft. The download from the above link is free, but there are sites on the net that charge for it. You should be able to get it for free regardless of browser. I just used it to store the static timing piece. You just have to start the video of choice and the icon that appears to the right od the address bar will display a pull down arrow, click on the video you want to save and it will save it, you'll want to create a folder on your desktop in which to store them, but that's the hardest part of the whole deal. This is a great service from John Twist to be sure.
In addition to downloadhelper, you'll need a player for the flv file , I'm tracking that down now.
OK here's a free flv file player that plays John's (and anything else from youtube etc) videos clearly with no watermark overlays messing up the picture. The link is here:

There are also free apps to convert You Tube "Flash" videos into standard formats, such as MPEG. That way you can play them anywhere without a special viewer. I don't know what loss of quality might occur since i haven't used such a program yet.

Steve I saw and tried about 5 different programs, they either were free for a short time, showed a watermark or ad over the center of the picture or showed a smaller version. In fact youy couldn't even see the light in the timimg video. The one I did eventually [post was free , full size, no time trials involved. I believe you can create a number of different type files with the ones I found, but would love to see more!
Mike
