Union Jack

Bear in mind there hasn't been a King since 1953.

Check out this e-bay listing. Something is not quite right.

Union Jack E-bay

The diagonal stripes are too uniform. There should be an offset to them, as in the Union Jack on the header of this forum.

With the Union Jack as is in the e-bay ad, there is no way to signal distress (an upside down flag), as all quadrants of the flag being sold are equal.

Rick & Barry, check out the link I posted regarding the history of the flag. The one on eBay is correct for the period of 1606 until 1801, when the Union Jack of today was adopted.

1st Pic: Flag from 1606~1801.
2nd Pic: Flag from 1801 to present.

I guess this means that I have been displayng the wrong Union Jack for the year my house was built (1790)! I fly a Betsy Ross for an American flag, so I should get a 1606-1801 Union Jack to be consistant. Although I have been known to be inconsistant at times.

the same is true of the later flag as well. guess there is no distress in British life.

Actually, there is.....if you look at the BCF forum banner on this page, take the bottom of the flag and "hold one corner with each hand"...then without releasing the corners, flip the flag so as the bottom is now the top....the wider of the white diagonals that started in the upper left hand corner on top of the red stripe is now on the bottom left hand corner and below the red strip....hense upside down....the signal of distress.

I actaully like the older 1606 Flag Better. one thing i am going to do to my Green Midget is Paint a Union Jack flag on the hole hood of the car. i think i am going to us the 1606 version instead.

I have a friend in Chicagoland who has painted the bootlid of his Midget...Union Jack. It looks good.

Dunno if I'd do that! Hood or trunk....now, top of GT is another thing...
