unclogging a fuel line

Mike...usually just take both ends loose...most the time usually just opens up..if not.. blow it open with air compressor...then ya gotta figure out what blocked it in the first place...

Yea I don't have any help then...don't know if there's a RotoRooter for the fuel lines...may just end up having to put a new line in er if the old arteries are that plugged up.....

Is called carb cleaner and a wire, then air, then more carb cleaner, etc, etc.

But it will be orginal, lol.

where does the old fuel line run. is it built into the tunnel or does it run under the car?

Mike, there's a channel built into the bottom of the floorpan. The fuel line runs along that. A very simple job to replace.
Jeff

i may just replace it then. i think i remeber seeing that on the green car when i was getting ti running

Not a big deal at all, I replaced Miss Agathas and used two from carquest with a coupling in the middle. both ends go to rubber tubes. One to fuel pump and one to carbs so fittings were not a big deal.

Yeah i opted to blow it out but the car is sitting at a friends house right now and he was away on a camping trip and the Compressor is stuck in his locked garage at the moment. i still going to try to blow it out prior to geting a new one. i am hoping that the new gas that i stuck in the tank will soften up the old Gummy gas in the bottom of the tank. i'm sure aftre 21 years that suff is pretty gummy

Yuck! After 21 years, it's tar.

yeah it amazing but the Fuel Sender still works. i would have thought the sender would be gumed up too.

Drop the tank - have it boiled & lined...blow out the fuel lines....clean the fuel pump.....then, worry about the cleanliness of the carbs.

Carbs runs good. it has a electric After market fuel pump on it . that seem to work fine too. you probably right on the fuel tank though

To replace the line is easy. My problem was that when I called Moss and VB they said they did not have them for my '79 Midget. However, spoek to Blane (tech at Moss) who said the "rubber" fuel line hose of today wold be just as well. I would up having an imbecile drill a self-tapping screw right through ghr metal line when installing a speaker in my car.. I cut the line with a pipe cutter, then purchased a piece of rbber fuel line matched ot size, clmaped it and she's good to go. Just angry that he wrecked my line and then refused ot pay for it...ARGH!

Oh forgot! I also bough ta new gas tank "kit" from Moss. It was about $300, os order it from Tony if you like. We tried to clean out the old tank but figured why not start new? It had everything we needed and after lifting he car took about 1-20 mins to replace. just had ot dump the old watered down gas out of it and dispoe of properly...Nothign liek a good match! lol

i went over today and fill the hose up with carb cleaning and let it set a couple hours. i came back and tryed to shot air through the line. i got NO where. so it look like a new line will be what i am looking for. i say i Just head down to the "bubba" Oreilly store and get me some Metal Line and bend them myself
