911 caller complains about lunch - gets arrested

Aug. 5: A Jacksonville, Fla., man is arrested Monday after calling 911 to complain that Subway restaurant workers weren't properly preparing his sandwich. WTLV's Eric Spivey reports on this and other strange 911 calls.

Ay caramba! Some folks need a good dope slap. I pity the 911 operators who have to take those calls.

Nevermind the stupid 911 calls (there are stories like that in the UK too, read this) - I listen to the local fire & rescue dispatch, they cover a relatively small county but are pretty active. I'm constantly amazed at what they send people out for (I'd bet the vast majority of the calls result in a "patient refused treatment"), I can't imagine what kind of nonsense calls they actually get.

The most amusing call recently was someone on I95 called 911 to report a sick person stranded that needed immediate assistance on the side of the highway. They reported the precise position of the "victim", along with a mile marker. After the ambulance and firetruck reached the "victim" they discovered it was a DOT employee working on something on the side of the road. The truck was marked and had it's lights on.

It's nice that people care enough to try to help, but that wastes resources that could be used in a real emergency - common sense, sheesh!
