Ultrasonic mouse control

Howdy all!

We're experiencing our annual winter visit of mice that have decided it's just too chilly outside for them. As I explore various ways of humanely defeating our house guests, I'd love to hear if anyone has ever tried those ultrasonic mouse controls that plug in and purport to keep Mickey and friends away with some piercing sound humans can't hear. My father has had one in his garage after some mice decided that the newly-installed headliner on dad's freshly-restored XK-120 coupe looked like a good source of material for a nest. They managed to chew a few holes one evening in a very obvious spot. My dad's never had a problem since.

Thoughts would be most welcome. Thanks!

we have one in the bathroom- haven't seen a mouse all winter. Of course a mouse would have the life expectancy of a ice cube in august, with the seven cats that live here....

My fiancee bought the Riddex, supposed to work on varmints and bugs. Doesn't work too well on bugs, dunno about varmints(I'm still here).

I pick the "Fabric Softeners" in a strip. Seems the rodents got no class. Or no appreciation for 'plastic scents'.

Work slicker than feces.I use them at our antique equipment museum. We have four in a 12000 square foot building and no more mice, or rats for that matter. Prior to using these things we were using poisons. I think they brought their own cutlery for that stuff.Never did find a dead one.

Hehehe, and I thought we were gonna be talking about some new high-tech computer thingy here! I have the old-fashioned mouse control (5 cats)!

Looks like I trump you two with 8 cats....until recently it was 9!

Opa - what make/model ultrasonic control do you use? I've always heard they weren't worth buying - and the one I tried a couple years ago just sat as the little critters danced around the traps.

Thanks.
Tom

they're called Rodent Sonic model PC2020 dual speaker super pet chaser. Available at Home Hardware up here.Don't recall the price for sure,I think $24.00 each.

I use the riddex and it keeps squirells out of the attic, doesn't work on bugs.
