Ultrasonic cleaner may have to wait a while

Found a company just down the road in Birmingham that does a 25 litre cleaner, no prices on their website, but emailed them last night and had a reply today... £1,285!!! ($2,540 at todays rates) I was thinking it would be about half that! Will continue looking for other manufacturers, but unless the price drops some it'll be a couple months before I invest in one.

Wow, should think so.

Maybe it is time you do a "science project" and build your own.

Pete, the one I was looking at here was in the $3500.00 price range. The certainly don't give them away. I had considered building my own, but so far have not gotten to it.

Being an ex-race mechanic I'm a stickler for cleanliness. As the whole car has been sat for a few years there's plenty of dirt on it and as a complete dismantle is in line to check everything over, I figure they might as well get cleaned properly while they are off the car. Ultrasonic has to be the way to go, you'd be amazed at how much dirt comes off even a new part!

I had a borrowed one for awhile. Great for small parts. I took bearings that I had cleaned to the best of my ability with solvent and carb cleaner and placed them on a paper shop towel in the cleaner. I got another ton of visable dirt out of them. This was about a 1 gallon (very old) unit running with clean solvent (paint thinner). !.5 gallon units are available on eBay for $300-$500.

I've been watching that site for a few weeks now, they put new vids on each week... I dunno how Jay gets any sleep when he has a collection like that. Does explain his constant grin though!

Yea I noted that as well, he just grins all the time when talking about his collection.
