If you have to wait that long, Phil, my daughter will be over there in August

A wine gum is like a gummy bear but fruitier and not quite as sweet

For those in need of a "fix" I am able to get flakes, crunchies, curly wurleys, Mars bars (the proper ones) and boost bars. Dolly mixtures, turkish delights, etc. They are in the region of $1 each, from various scources in my area. Anyone who is desperate, e-mail me and I'll round some up for you, just re-imburse for the candy and the postage, I'll mail them out priority mail for you.

On the West side of the Detroit suburbs is a small chain, 3 large stores, of a grocery chain called Hillers. In an enterprising manner not commonly found in other stores in this area they have caught on to the fact that there are a lot of other nationalities in SE Michigan. Consequently, they devote an entire long aisle, both sides, to the whims of their desparate customers in need of a fix from "home". There are sections from the UK, Japan, Russia, Thailand, Poland, India and more, the theme is also repeated in the frozen food aisles. They even employ a Japanese chef in two of the three stores and have a fresh sushi bar! Of course, there is a price for all of this! But when you're thousands of miles from home and just can't get the thought of Branston Pickle out of your head, then just once in a while, it's worth it!

Here in eastern Canada all I have to do is go to the local Wal-mart and buy Wine Gums. They are actually made in Enland although I can't remember the brand name.Incidently they were originally made with wine and gelatin but now there is no wine used. They are a family favorite.I would gladly send some to you if you have no luck elsewhere.

I work with a girl from Liverpool, who is always getting stuff sent to her from her parents. The whole staff is hooked on Echoes and See's Mint Krispies!
