UH OH! Toyota is off to a rocky start in NASCAR

I know, I know, they say everybody “TRYS” to cheat in NASCAR.

But it sounds like Toyota might be following the old Maxim: “When in Rome...”

#55 M. Waltrip's Car Seized by NASCAR Officals

Now we’re only talking about one team – so any allegations of screening Toyota harder than the other manufactures might be a hallow argument.

Guess we'll have to wait until next week for the lab results.

Bret, it doesn't surprise me a bit if NAPCAR is watching them a bit closer than others.
I've heard through the grapevine that there is some resentment amongst the "good ol' boys" that the Japanese are encroaching on their turf.

Jeff,

I'm pretty sure you are correct about "some" folks in the NASCAR ranks. But I don't think they're going to screen them any harder than they did Dodge when they first re-entered the NASCAR ranks.

The way the rules are written it's always extremely hard for a manufacture to enter the fray. I wouldn't be surprised if Honda is the next entry into the big oval track circus.

I have to admit, I've never watched any nascar before in my life, now Toyota is in there, I watched qualifying today and routed for them, will watch the race (if they are in) next week too.
I wish there were more manufacturers, and I'm sure they'll get the same reception that Toyota is getting now.
I hope they do well, shame the big 3 are affraid of competition.

Bret, I hope you're right about the scrutiny, but I just have this nagging feeling that they may get poked at a bit more.
And the rulebook is a very slim volume. I was amazed the first time I was working on one of them and had to consult the book. I expected something the size of the LA phone book. What I got was about like a slim Readers Digest!
