I visited John at Foggy Bottom on my way to the TR races at Virginia International Raceway. I convoyed with him and his TR to the races at VIR.
I first met "JR" - as he was affectionally called - in 1996 at TRA in Williamsburg VA when he was the navigator for Bill Gray from Kingston, Ontario in the rally where we had to count cannons on the right side.
I also fondly remember one spring when "JR" put his powder blue TR3A out in front of his house and started the engine so it would warm up after its long winter in one of his "Two Sheds". He looked out the window 15 minutes later and see the attachment for what he saw.
He first thought that the engine had blown. But NO ! Squirrels had stored their acorns in his exhaust pipe and the whole area around Foggy Bottom smelled of sweet cooked acorns and one smelly TR3A
