I noticed the exhaust valve springs on tr6 and 250 have a two piece retainer, while the intake springs have a one piece retainer. While at the machine shop that is redoing my cylinder head, The guy doing the work, wanted me to drop off another two peice retainer so that he could finish all twelve valves with two piece retainers, has any one ever seen this done before?

Hello Vrod,
the idea of the two piece spring retainer is to allow the valves to rotate and give better seat life. However, they are weaker than the one piece so fitting twelve is a retrograde step. I would suggest that you fit twelve of the single piece collars.
