TVR's at Sebring

Watched a couple hours of Sebring to see the TVR's in action. Well, never saw or heard anything about them except the place they were in and what kind of tires they used. Anyone have anymore pictures or info from the race?

They fared pretty well through the race until near the end when they both dropped out with engine problems. But, they
finished in the top ten in GT2 class, beating out a number of Porsches, some Ferraris and one of the Panoz, I believe.

I was following them and the Astons. TVRs had engine problems. I have to admit, I liked their all-girl team last year!

Info below from www.crash.net/uk

Patrick Pearce and the LNT Racing TVR sportscar team made a promising debut in the American Le Mans Series during the season opening Sebring Twelve Hours at the weekend, battling for a top five finish in the GT2 class before being forced to retire for the race.

In what was the teams first ever race, 23-year-old Pearce was joined by Marc Hynes and Richard Dean in the TVR T400, which ran as high as fourth in class before an engine problem shortly after half distance brought the race to a premature end.

“The first part of the race was very good,” (TVR team driver) Pearce said. “We didn't quite have the outright pace of the Porsches, but we made up a lot of places and it was looking good. I've got to thank the team for doing such a great job in preparing the cars. They were both running extremely well early on. Unfortunately the car Marc, Richard and I were driving had an engine problem, but you do expect some little problems at this stage in the development programme.”

The early performance of the T400 should put the team in good stead for the rest of the season, with LNT focusing on the LMES and the British GT championship in 2005, and Pearce said he was confident for the remainder of the year.

“We've got quite a big programme of development,” he said. “Our car was right on the pace in the corners, but we were losing several lengths to the Porsches on the straights. The team has got some engine improvements on the way though, so we should definitely get more power as the year progresses. There's even more to come from the chassis too.

“I feel like I was on the pace with the other drivers in the team, and they are all very quick and very experienced. I'm really getting to grips with the car now, so when I get back to circuits that I know well I should be right up there with them.”

Here's a pic from Sebring 2003. My general feeling was that the TVR's were down on power and Sebring tends to favor cars that have power.

A bit of trivia, or irony. My family raced a Grantura in the mid 60's at Sebring, and there are some interesting similarities: our car was yellow, #41, and dnf'd because of motor problems...

Nice picture. I enjoy going to Sebring for the historic races. Where in central Fl are you and do you go to the British breakfast every first Sunday of the month?
Thanks

I am in Lakeland. I have not heard of the British breakfast, tell me more. I am a member of the Tampabay Austin Healey Club, but don't participate too much.

Here in Orlando on the first Sunday of every month at@8:30 British cars meet at Gleason's grill. We get about 30 cars each meet depending on the weather. About 4 or 5 Healey's show up.
I didn't realize you were in Tampa.

That is interesting. I noticed it was a DeWalt car, didn't they sponsor a Morgan Aero8 a couple of years ago? What is the british connection?

I'm not sure the DeWalt and British connection, but I do know that the same team ran both the TVR and the Morgan.
