TVR No longer under British ownership...

TVR, one of the UKs last British owned car manufacturers has been sold to a 24 year old Russian banking millionaire. While this may be good for TVR (the new owner seems to want to bring TVR to a wider, global market) I can't help thinking that this last bastion of British car manufacturing eccentricity may loose some of its appeal if it is forced down a more conventional track in order to establish a 'Global Brand'.

TVR have always ploughed their own furrow so I hope the new owner will allow them to continue with Peter Wheelers vision of brute force and simplicity.

So what is left? Just Morgan and a few kit car makers? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Yeah....I think Morgan is the only manufacturer left. Thank god it's a family owned business and they have no intention of selling.

...and the London Taxi Company who are, strangely enough, based just down the road from me in Coventry! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/england.gif

Good for Morgan, I sincerely hope that they can carry on as they are.

Havn't they been building the same car for the last 80ish years? Why stop now? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
