Turning ball joint

Crisis

I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if they have a trick to fix it? As I try to tighten the ball joint to the vertical link, the ball joint turns and will not tighten. I can't even get the nylon part of the nut onto the stem. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Not sure if this would work, can you insert a screwdriver between the nut and the link to apply pressure while turning the nut? Once the ball joint stem seats, you should be able to tighten the nut to torque specs.

Try tightening with a plain nut first. Then, when the tapered shaft is holding, remove the plain nut and install a fiber locknut.

If there is someway to apply pressure, so the joint is seating in the socket, perhaps with pump pressure from underneath, or super large channelock pliers holding the top of the joint together with the link.

This usually helps.

Have you already twin bolted the BJ into the upper A-A arms?
Remember- one bolt goes one way, the second goes reverse
direction; torgue to 28#

If not, do this step before attaching the vertical link.
It should go easier. Also, super clean metal to metal
surfaces help get this bugger to set properly.

That's how I did it when I had the same problem.

Thanks all. I found a way to apply pressure (tightened spring tool and pushed down on top of BJ til seated)and it bolted right up. Problem solved.
