TR2/3/3A Turn signal switch [trafficator]

Folks,

Do the three set screws that secure the trafficator from rotating with the steering wheel seat on the edge of the switch back plate?

If so, I can't seem to get them tight enough to keep the switch from rotating with the sterring wheel. Plus, the gap between the back of the swithch and the steering wheel hub is over a quarter of an inch in this position.

Thanks.

Ron

It sounds like the assembly needs to go back farther. I have noticed that the repro trafficator back plates are too large to properly fit in the steering wheel hub. I had to file the outer edge for some time to make it small enough to fit. Once it fits, it takes very little tightness with the set screws to hold it from turning.

Oh...to answer your question, no, the set screws should actually pass in front (as you look at it, but rearward for the car perspective) of the plate. So the pointed set screws capture the plate and hold it against the hub.

Those screws aren't what keep the head from rotating. They actually force the plate to rotate, which activates the self cancelling mechanism.
The head is held by the stator tube, and the compression fitting on the front of the control box.
