Turn Signal Question-65 Sprite

What is missing from this turn signal? Are there suppose to be springs on either side of the plastic piece? I cannot imagine it staying in the neutral position without some type of mechanical support. I sure hate to pay 70$ for a new one. Any suggestions would be most helpful or maybe someone has the parts I am looking for.

I tried to fix my old one. Then I gave up and order a new one from Tony. Get him to price one out. I think you will be happy with the price.

I had the same problem about 5 years ago. I used the spring part of a standard set of old sprite points to fashion a replacement. I takes surprising little to mod the spring to work as a replacement for the plastic levers that break. Put the loop end of the spring on the post, and adjust the other end to support the signal arm in its neutral position.

Like I said, I did it about 5 years ago, and I have not had the need to take it back apart since. Probably never will need to adjust or replace the repair. The spring steel of the points is perfect, even the width is correct, so it should be pretty intuitive once you place the loop on the signal post. The whole job took about 20 minutes to work out with a pair of needle nose pliers.
