Being a good dad, I changed the plugs, wires, cap and rotor on my son's 97 S-10 pickup. That #3 plug is a nightmare to get to! And you need to be a contortionist to get to the dizzy.

I can change the plugs in my TR6 in 5 minutes flat, if I am slow.

Another reason to keep our babies on the road.

Postal trucks use the same drivetrain as S10's. When the wires or distributors have to be replaced they go thru the driverside fenderwell. A WHOLE lot eaiser. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Old English iron is as simple as "baby poop" to maintain compared to anything built after 1978. EMF impervious, wear items are ~generally~ generic, things work even if they're HALF right. You get where you're going in an LBC.

"anything built after 1978"

ugh...

I almost went off on another Dodge Neon water-pump, timing belt, belt tensioner rant.

Fortunately I was able to take a deep breath and keep it under control....

that expired equine has already been flogged

So, Bill, a la the thread on cars that will be restore in the future, I'm guessing the '97 S10 won't be one. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Hey Doctor Payne !!

Good practice. I think my TR6 is gonna actually make it
to the 1,000 miles driven without breakdown milestone.

That will probably be a good milestone to replace the
entire ignition system and fuel pump before they fail.

Why don't you pop on over to the island to perform these
routine maintenance change outs for me. Seeing as you are
so fast and all!!

I already have all the components except a new distributor.
Cash is kinda tight or I'd have a spare dizzy to install.

Come on over !!! My Speedy !
