Tubular Bells. The full story.

Quite extraordinary. Watched it end to end. Hadn't a clue about his music being the background for The Exorcist flic, never saw it, didn't care to. But we do have the album, and it was after hearing it because 'mits brought it around to my apartment. Along with albums by Brian Eno and Peter Gabriel. That would have been a few years after the record's release, late in '76 IIRC.

Hypnotic, indeed.

I bought the album way back when as well. Great stuff on it! Love the way he announces each instrument as it's highlighted. Thanks for posting, David - will have to pull it out and give it a listen.

HA! Just remembered: Back then I was a Radio Shack store manager. I remember using that album to demo stereo systems and components; sold a bunch of them with it!

Now I have Tubular Bells looping in my head! At 6 of 7 years old my younger brother won a mixed-bag of 45s in a radio broadcast contest, Tubular Bells was among the many received in several boxes - oh and Monster Mash. He played the grooves off of both!

Very interesting story (especially up at 21 minutes in with his discussion of the elements in the music). Thanks.

The instruments were introduced by Vivian Stanshall. He sounded like an eccentric but apparently was very smart. Member of the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah band

Thanks for the correction, David - guess it wasn't a solo effort after all. :jester:
