Tube Axle hub nut

What size socket do I need to remove the nut that holds the hub onto the axle shaft of an MGB tube axle?

I need to swap my wire wire wheel hubs for steel wheel types. I plan to use 6" alloy wheels, and many have suggested I use a wire wheel axle to give extra clearance.

I think that's correct. I recently used a 1-3/8" socket (didn't have a 1-5/15" handy) and it fit a little loosely but worked fine.

Also a real impact socket will probably not work. You need a thin wall socket to get the wire wheel hub off. Sears will probably have what you need. I have a thin wall and a impact socket and only one will work! 1-5/16 sounds correct for the size. Bob

Remember that driver side is reverse threaded--turn clockwise to loosen.
