Now my wife can't say that her car is never inside...

Now the BAD news....#4 cylinder was filled with rust...looks like we've got a little motor work to do...no big deal...we have spares!

She looks lovely. Now's your chance to fit bigger liners and pistons.

Congratulations, just knew it would fit!

You have never mentioned the engine number that is in TS1203. If it is original (in the early teens) then my vote is to rebuild it since the early TR2 engines are so unique. If original, it might have that unique thermostat housing, low port head, black rocker cover, etc.

Does 1203 have the square tail light lenses?

Lou,
I think the early t-stat housing was earlier than my car.

This is a replacement engine....I think it's TS58XXX or something like that. My "B" engine is a real late one and, I think, an 87 mm unit.

I am planning on rebuilding a later engine with a TR2 head and intake/carbs if I can't dig up a real TR2 block. I've found a TR2 intake and carbs and have a head lined up (I hope). I'll put that engine in when I re-do the car.

I'm taking a chromed TR valve cover to the plater to have it dechromed...

The car has later tail lights but I have a set of the correct one's coming from Europe.

I'm thinking of painting it "Ice Blue" with Geranium trim....something nobody else has got.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

But, for 2007, the car will be rolling down the road with it's "Wagner" paint job and ratty interior.

Reason that I asked about the thermostat housing is Eric C. in Georgia has TS1192 and has the early housing. According to Piggott and others the change was at TS1200. That early housing is being reproduced in England. It will take 12 / 18 months to do the body so look for a block numbered in the early teens in the meantime.

Don't do Ice Blue and Geranium - absolutely horrid!

I HEARD that some guy actually redid his car in those colors...must have had "picking up chicks" in mind...hmmm

Awsome! Glad to see it in it's happy new home... I have the low port head and early 2 bolt carb intake, but no carbs. I'l likely be using the TR4A head and engine and TR3A intake and carbs on TS5012. But that's mainly because I diden't get the entire original engine.
Gotta love those wet-liners! maks a rusty bore a snap to take care of.
Can't wait to see pics of you guys boppin down the road.
Cheers!
Oh yea... It's gonna take guts to follow through with that paint idea. I can't even bring myself to paint 5012 it's original geranium color... It's goin BRG.
But I catually think that light blue with a red int woulden't be all that bad. just remember.. Geranium is more of a nasty "salmon" or "coral" Like was so popular in the 50s. Not a nice red.

I vote Ice Blue with Blackberry trim...or the always adored Olive Yellow with Geranium...and Ice Blue weather equipment!!!

Wow! Do I ever wish that I had a garage that big...and warm too!
