I am new here, and just got my first austin healey to restore. Its somewhere between a 63 and 67, and is a Sprite. I was wondering about the trunk lid. Is there supposed to be a lip on it, on the top, towards the back part of it, or just straight and flat. I drew a pic because I dont really know how to explain it. Thanks

Welcome Jon. I don't know the answer to your question, but I think I know where you can find people who do (that might as well be my motto): try the Spridgets board and see what kind of luck you have there. Of course, you might also get the info you need here on this Board, but at least by posting your question in both places you'll have the bases covered. Good luck with your restoration!

As to your boot lid, it's supposed to look like the first view. Just a gentle curve downward.
As Reid mentioned, we Sprite types have our own sandbox to play in. C'mon over and visit.

...While on the subject, I bought some weather striping from Moss for my 100 boot, after putting it on, no way would it close!! So I took it all off, a royal pain that was, did the 100 ever have it? <font color="black"> </font> /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif
 
Ha, yes I did!, It didnt have one before so.....It looked like so right on the shroud side! I guess the "big" side goes on the outside?? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif
 
Well, you attach it to the boot lid, NOT the shroud. That's number one. Then you have to orient/rotate it properly so that it fits in the groove right, and the tallest flange is around the outside. Lastly, don't forget to put the seam at the bottom; i.e., down by the license plate, to minimize leaks.
 
Ha! jeez, yes I did, I just went and checked, looks like it will be just fine on the boot!! Duh!! I guess the "big" side goes out??
