Trunk Kit Adhesive

I am finally to the point of installing the trunk kit in my BJ7. The trunk is stripped clean, i.e. fuel tank, straps, spare tire blocks, battery and wiring removed. I am looking for some direction on the easiest adhesive to work with as I install the kit. I know that the 3M spray adhesives will work, but I would prefer to use a brush-on to avoid dealing with overspray concerns. Any advice?

I have used a good brand of contact cement in the past. It comes in quart cans, can be purchased from JC Whitney or Home Depot.

The important thing to remember with this product is the surfaces must be clean. Old glue, oils and silicone protectants are the enemy.

John--

Reconsider the 3M spray adhesive--the spray pattern is rather precise and can adjusted to avoid overspray. Also, I have found that the Armacord is more easily repositioned versus "paint-on" contact cement.

I have tried the 3M spray and the contact cement that I got from Moss. They do an adequate job. However, I just got a can (with a brush) of contact cement sold to bond leather with other materials. So far it seems to hold tighter than either of the other products. You can get it from Tandy Leather or The Leather Factory. I am using it for my trunk and to reseal
some joints that came loose when the other adhesives were used. So far I really like it!
