River City is Mason City IA where Meredith Willson was born. The only theater event I ever went to with my parents must have been 1960 or so. Might have been the Broadway show on the road, big deal for Mom, I had to dress up.

I think that was the first real Broadway musical play I ever went to. Forest Tucker was the 'Music Man'. Was such a great experience, I went to many more back in the day.
 
Watched all the songs on YT last night . Bored the heck out of my son while I made him watch a couple before I bought some on line game for him.
