Trouble Refilling Driver's Side Shock

Hey guys,

This is my first post on this forum.

I tried to refill the front dampers on my '66 Sprite today but couldn't do the one on the left(driver's) side. I have the correct 1/4w wrench and can access the filler bolt head. It seems that the bolt won't back out enough because it runs into the side of the half-round cut out in the frame. I'm stumped on this one... Anybody else ever come across this issue?

I know that there will be posts questioning why I am trying to refill old dampers. For now, please just let me know if the issue I mentioned is unusual and if you have any suggestions. I'll probably end up buying new shocks from worldwide later this year if I can't get a little more life out of these...

Thanks

Hello mystery person,
I looked at mine and I have 3/4" between the plug and metal. Don't know how much you need. Haven't taken mine out in place. Seems like if you loosened the two bolts on that panel you could move it enough to take the plug out.

wouldn't it be just as easy to take the shock out to refill?
