Tom,
I have a couple of the six blade fans from the later TR4. I have not tried one on a TR3 but don"t see why they wouldn't work on the TR3. BTW, not looking to sell these fans, have cars for them to be installed in.

I installed them on both a TR3A and a TR4 and saw no differences in the fans or the fits. I suspect both were GT6 fans but cannot say for sure (rivet size may be a clue here).

Apart from cooling I prefer then because the cruciform is larger meaning less aluminum blade extending past the steel. I had a fan breakage twice with the stock fan:

It’s one and the same tropical fan for tr3 & tr4. Look for an early GT6 fan, you will be pleasantly surprised.

FYI - A picture I saved from Carl showing the GT6 fan on the left and a real Tropical fan on the right.

I think both mine began life as GT6 fans but they work great. Just wanted to note the possible (minor) difference.

Interesting picture Geo - hadn't seen a direct comparison showing any variation until now - I'd still argue over a beer that its essentially the same fan, or at least an evolving design. The Vitesse catalog shows three fans numbers for the fan, I believe all 6 blade metal: 209244, then 211529, and finally 211986. The 211986 is also the tropical fan part listed for the 4A. I've never seen a factory number specifically referenced for the TR3. Practically speaking, I happen to know you can get away with a GT6 fan in concours :fat:

Hey I recognize that fan! And the hand holding it!

And as I recall I may have provided one of those TR 4 fans but I remember it having all 4 blades ... sorry about that! The TR4 4 blade design has not held up well.
