Triumph TR-5

They made a 250 as well which seems to seems to trip me up on CL searches. Half thought about buying one (well..... I'm already on here searching for 250 parts......)

VERY rare to see one on this side of the pond. And if they do, get your checkbook out! Crazy money is being paid for nice examples, most are in England where I've seen them go for #$40-$50,000 USD.

I'll take a TR-250, essentially the same car but without the PI setup.

But boy, I'd love to get my hands on a TR-5 . . . :yesnod:

And frequently if you do, it's a fake. More than one TR250 has been retrofitted with PI and the extra chrome taken off.

Charles Runyan has a real one though.

Hopefully some have at least looked at the ad...and see the spoof on me!
I did.

They also made a TR6 motorcycle, which trips me up all the time looking for transmission parts. Which I guess kinda limited the humor (for me) in your post. :square:

Randall... Guess when I think about it...what are the real chances of finding a sleeper TR5! Silly me! Gil NoCal

A friend in Santa Fe has a real one (LHD TR5) that he drives to Tucson once a year. Fantastic car, beautifully restored.

Wish I still had mine, especially as a club member has one that he imported from Europe. Sigh...

TR5's were a revelation in power after the TR4A, although I didn't get one (to rebuild) until 1988. Being slightly lighter than a TR6, they were considered to be the fastest production TR prior to the TR8.

Young blokes with new TR5's used to drive around with their parking lights on. The small rear fender red side marker lights thus pronouncing they weren't TR4A drivers. Used to bring a smile that they thought themselves so posh.

Viv.

Some people used to say that the TR250 got its name because it was half the car the TR5 was. As an ex-owner, I couldn't possibly comment..... :jester:
