TR4/4A Triumph Steering Rack

I put a new rack in my car several years ago. Today I was about to replace a torn "bellows" boot at one end but encountered a surprise. I realize my mistake was not rebuilding my OEM British-made rack. What I encountered was a completely disintegrated nylon cap bushing of some sort that centers and holds the rod extending to the tie-rod.

From the photos you can see the rack tube and the receiving end with clip holes to accommodate and the elbows on that crushed, broken nylon bushing, and from the other photo you can see the pile of broken chips of the bushing.

This seems so surprisingly cheap that I am wondering the quality of the entire rack. As best I can tell, that bushing isn't sold separately and I'll be required to buy an entirely new rack. I'll make some calls this week.

Just informational. If anyone has come across this same kind of problem or issue I'd appreciate the details. thx
