My first car was a 1976 Triumph Spitfire (1500 | Pimento, factory hardtop), and I owned it for 10 years. I spent those years learning most everything I know about cars, just trying to keep that thing going, and making making every mistake possible in the process.
Probably my most exhaustive blunder was pulling the transmission (by myself, through the passenger compartment), installing the clutch plate backwards (finally getting it centered using a screwdriver instead of buying a plug), and after reassembling everything, discovering my error.
After owning that car, I bought a 1974 TR6 (Mimosa (yellow), factory overdrive), the car I had always wanted. I drove my Six for a few years as my main driver, and then retired it to restore it but never did.
If I have a claim to fame, it's that I have owned a Triumph car continuously (every year) since 1976. That doesn't mean I actually drove the car I owned during each year, a lot of years the car just stayed parked in my garage. But...
