Triplex Windshields, [Windscreens], Again!

Just read an article that Moss found a private company,(Pilkington Classics), in the UK that has the original Triplex windshield forms. Sounds like Moss is striking a deal with them to manufacture new Triplex windshields with the proper thickness and shape. They will supposedly have the original Triplex logo inbeded or etched in the glass. Moss claims that by fall they should be available. This should solve the fitting problems some of us are having. Hope all goes well on the deal.

I read that article in "British Motoring", Moss' house publication. I'm going to need one fairly soon, so I was interested in their new ones.
The article also implied that problems with their current offering was due to installer inexperience or ineptitude.

I've been buying from Victoria British until the problem is solved at Moss - had no problems with the VB units...will watch the Moss happenings to get some in stock.

makes me glad I have a complete spare, and I hope I never need it

I wouldn't want to dispute the Moss experts, to a point, but there have been some that have stated their new windshield was not properly shaped to fit right. I personally don't think that all windshield installation problems are due to installer inexperience or ineptitude. If that was truly the case, then why are they setting up a deal with the Triplex manufactures?

I never thought of using that for auto glass, even though I have a container of it setting on the shelf. And, I don't even know what I bought it for!

I think the last windshield I bought was made in South Africa.
I understand much of the Brit glass is sourced from there.

A couple of yrs. ago, the local MG club had a Saturday tech session on MGB windshield installation.
After witnessing the struggles that ensued, all I can say is that there is not one single thing about that job that is a.) easy, or b.) fun.
One of the guys had worked for a local Brit car shop for a while, and B windshield installation was the first job he got put on, mainly because as the New Guy, he got the worst jobs and it's such a PITA none of the other techs wanted to mess with it if they could avoid it.
