Trimming windshield seal

Well, thanks to Neil Estes, my BJ8 windshield to scuttle seal is now properly installed in the newly chromed windshield. Looks great. Now it's time to fit the pillars to the frame. This requires trimming of the seal, as it leaves the frame to fold over the front fender. Before I just guess as to the proper trim procedure, I thought it best to ask those who know more than I. It does seem, though, that the seal is trimmed to leave only about one inch of the flat part, discarding the part that fits into the frame channel, from the end to the vertical part of the frame. Am I close? I don't want to trim too much, but need to trim enough to enable the pillars to fit without interference.

Cutlass,
You are on the right track. Someone posted a picture of it in the forum quite while ago. Use the search to find it.
