Trim Under Convertible Cap

Does anyone with a Healey ever stop fiddling? I was hoping to get some advice from members here about the aesthetics of the exposed hardware and body located right at the frontmost portion of the snap-on cover. Photos are attached for reference.

There are fabric tears and sun damage to potions of the upholstery so I think I should bite the bullet and order in some seat kits and cushions and have somebody skilled install them.

The snap-on convertible cap on this BJ8 seems to fall about 2 inches short of covering the parts exposed here, including the top of the fur flex and the horizontal angled body in this region (Note the black tape topping it). Could someone suggest a way to finish this correctly? Is something missing? Should I order a new cap with the correct front-to-back dimensions?
Thanks for your consideration,

Dave

Stop fiddling? Only if you pay someone else to do it.
You're missing Moss part number 803-875, 803-885 SEAL, shut pillar, top L/H, R/H (photo attached)
Here's a photo showing how the fur flex should extend, with the finishing clip.

Dynamite! Thank you for the very kind and informative response!

Looks like I need to find more red Furflex, hopefully not needing the full length. However, splicing may not be a good idea.

The previous owner did a stellar job on the restoration at a very high cost, but the interior was going to be very expensive because of sun damage, failed stitching and little tears here and there. I am hoping that getting leather kits and working on this trim will work out well. I am still dazzled by the beauty of the lines of the BJ8.

Thanks again.

Dave

Mmm, similar to the BJ7 then, my furflex will curl over onto the internal rear quarter panel in the same way, about 150mm ish in from the door.

Bristleflex is no longer available , McGregor have stopped producing it ……

No, say it’s not true. It’s the good stuff!
Yep they stopped producing it during Covid and they say they will not be doing it anymore .

I tried to buy some earlier this year and found most colors were sold out. I was hoping someone else might take over production.

Dave, if you want/need red, British Car Specialists still show they have some in stock. You might get lucky?

Regards, Bill
