Howdy folks! I've been lurking on your site for a couple of months reading both the new and archived posts. Tremendous! What an education resides within these walls, not to mention the motley assortment of denizens with their varied interests, expertise, and willingness to be of service. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Basil, you are to be commended for your vision and hard work. It is a pleasure to interact with such a civil group. I am a finish carpenter living just outside of San Luis Obispo where we are blessed with beautiful weather and superb roads that wind through gorgeous countryside. Coastal Route 1 thru Big Sur to Monterey lies just to the north. I cannot wait to finish my car and blast up this most beautiful of drives to my brother's place in Santa Cruz. O.K. then. I bought my BT7 in Bakersfield in 84, drove it to the Historics
in Monterey that August, got inspired, rebuilt the motor, drove the sheesh out of it for a year, decided to paint it, got mightaswelled down to a frame and a pile of parts and a bucket of bolts. Soon after broke my back burst some discs couldn't sit or bend or much so stored the car in a container while life intervened until now. The car is out of the container!!! I am prepping it for paint in my spare time. Built a 10x20 floor for a 10x20 Costco tent as a paint booth, Got an hvlp gun, 5 horse pump, fans, filters, fresh air mask, etc.Soon as it is dry Im painting it Old English White no. 3. Thinking single stage. Just rebuilt the front suspn, kingpins and all. Trans is on the bench awaiting the new uprated syncros. Been buying parts since 84 and now have close to everything!
Red leather seats, red panels, red carpet, black soft and hardtops. Oh boy! Painted 72 spoke 5.5x15s. Look out, I will be needing advice. The wood rats ate my notes. Roby the carpenter.

Hi Roby, and welcome to the Forum! You're in a great area for driving that BT7, good luck getting it back on the road. And you're right, this is the best place you could ever find for help and friendly and accurate advice. Great to have you aboard! :savewave:

Hi Roby,

"Welcome" to the "BCF". It sounds like your having a blast with the "BIG" Healey. I`m getting close to having my `57TR3 Small Mouth painted in a "Tan Beige Ext. with Dk. Burgundy piped in White" Interior. Quite similar to yours but the "Beige" is a shade or two darker than "Olde English White".

Anyways; By now You probably know how to locate, ask, reply etc. since you`ve been lurking here for a couple of months. Post some pics of your car here or in the Healey Forum. We "ALL LOVE PICS" here!!

Best Wishes,

Russ

Thanx for the warm welcome Larry and Russ, I am somewhat familiar with the two of you as I have read many of your posts. Quite the brain trust available here indeed! I have a buddy with a 356 painted porsche pastel beige with a dark burgundy interior. That Small Mouth should look elegant in your colors. My seat kits are piped in white as well. I have ruminated long and hard on the color choice issue and finally decided to go with my cars original colors. No doubt I shall be posting a few questions regarding paint. I have recently acquired both a laptop and a scanner so pics will follow. I sure ain't no Randy Forbes! Mr Industrious! Thanx again, perhaps my expertise may prove useful to others here as well...
