About ready to put the finishing touches on the 100M. Have a new leather bonnet strap to replace the one that was rotted away. Does anyone have recommendations on whether to treat the leather with something to help it last or suggestions if this is a good idea or not. Thanks

Lexol is a very good product. Pep Boys has a sale on so it might save you a $$$

Thanks guys. Always like a reason to go to Pep Boys.

You can also use Mink Oil which comes in a can like shoe polish and will keep the strap from becoming brittle and helps waterproof it. Think I got it at the grocery store along with shoe polish.

Thanks Randy. I dropped a note to the folks at Leatherique.

Another plug for Leatherique. I use it exclusively on BMW's leather seats; I'm seen it soften some badly neglected leather__and does wonders for the shift/handbrake boots, which nobody ever seems to remember needs conditioning too...

Hey Randy,
I've got a bottle of the Leatherique and didn't even think to use it on the belt - duh ! Used it on the interior before I changed it out and agree it's good stuff. So, now got two things to use on the belt along with using the Leatherique for the seats.
Regards,
Mike

News Flash (just since my last post above...):

Wolfstein's RaggTop Fabric Cleaner! I just used it to clean up some spots on the carpet of an old ///M3 I've been going through, and I was simply astonished at how well / how quickly /and/ how invisibly it worked!

This car's interior looked likr the bottom of a garbage pail when I got it, and it's been a back-burner project ever since (last November). There were__what looked like__chocolate ice-cream stains (seller had three__3__young kids) and coffee stains on the leather seats, console and carpet. The Leatherique did a fantastic job on the seats, as expected, but I was really dreading cleaning the carpet__I didn't think anything would yield a positive outcome.

The can of Wolfstein's that I have__aerosol. the new stuff is in a pump bottle__is so old, but I figured I'd still give it a try. Following the instructions, I sprayed each spot and waited the 5 to 15 seconds they recommend, then gently went over the area with the brush that came with the "fabric top care kit." Voila!! I only did "spot cleaning" and though black carpet, the cleaned areas doesn't stand out from the rest, and every last trace of the stain (coffee and/or ice-cream) is gone.

This stuff works so good, I might actually allow the tan carpet in the Healey to get dirty now (I don't know what I was thinking when I decided on that color...)!
