Transport Companies

I am looking to transport my Healey to Western North Carolina each Spring and back to Florida each Fall. Anyone have any recommendations re a transport company? Thanks

I've used Intercity twice and very pleased with them. They only have enclosed vans where they drive the LBC on an extended tailgate and then that goes up to the second level if needed and they drive it off or could be on first level and they simply drive it into the van. Going from NC to FL should be an easy haul to get as that direction is a popular one for most haulers.
Regards,
Mike

:iagree:

I've used them over the years too. They are now owned by FED-X

I used Civellos to lug my donor XJS from the east coast to the west for about $1300. Prompt and easy going folks.

Passport Transport (enclosed) carried my Healey up from Lakeland, FL to Ohio; no complaints.

I've literally dealt with dozens of transporters in the past few years, as at least half of the cars I work on are delivered to me & sent back to their owners that way, and it is an ever changing cast of players.

If you stick with the BIG companies, you'll almost assuredly get good service, but you'll pay a premium price.

This past Thursday morning, I loaded a 2001 ///M Coupe on an open transport, and it was delivered to it's New Jersey owner around 8:00 PM that same evening. For $300.00 (cost him $900.00 to send it to me last June)

I hope the owner doesn't regret not waiting until next week to get his car back. I'm sitting on another car that needs to go back to Long Island, but he was OK on waiting until after this weekend...

As an alternative to the usual transport methods, have you thought about "rail". You drive your car to the boarding location, they load your car on, hop on the train yourself then embark at your destination and drive off!

Just a thought.

I've done that before with Autotrain, but it was back about 1977 or 78. Not sure I would want some young kid slaming my gearshift lever into first supposing he/she could even get it started to begin with. I had a Volvo at the time.
