okay i posted a while ago about my transmition problem, the shifter is in nuetral but the transmtion is stuck in reverse someone said i can pull the side plate off of the tranny and try to get it out of gear from there, but being the newbie that i am i took of the side plate and went hmmm what now ? can anyone give me a guide on how to do this ? keeping in mind the engine and transmition are both still in the car

Hello SH009,
you need to locate the lever that slides the reverse gear into mesh. This is roughly runs from the top of the box down to the bottom towards the back end. The reverse gear is on a horizontal shaft down low in the box and engages by travelling backwards. You need to make sure the gear lever is in the neutral position in the 3\4 plane, (It's the natural position of the lever in fact) then try and lever the reverse selector back so the gear is out of mesh. The selector lever pivots in the middle so either lever above the pivot towards the front or vice versa below the pivot.
