Transmission Tunnel Install - BN2

The tranny tunnel was not installed when I get my 100M. Installing it now and it seems as though the screw holes are not in the right place. The flanges on the tunnel jut out over the top of the ridge in the floor board which seems like it will cause sealing problems and an unsightly bulge in the carpet. Seems to me that the flange should seat inside the ridge so that it is flat. Anyone know if that is correct? Image attached.
Thanks
Mike

Squish the tunnel so it fits between the weld seams in the frame as suggested above. Also make sure the shift lever is centered in the tunnel's hole in neutral or you won't be able to get all the gears. Ask me how I know...
