Transmission tunnel carpet

I know that the transmission tunnel carpets don't fit like a glove, and were not originally glued to the tunnel. As I install my Moss kit, sure enough, there are wrinkles. Not bad, but wrinkles nevertheless. Wrinkles may be the authentic look, but how do others approach the issue? Is there a real downside risk of gluing it down to get rid of the offending anomolies?

I'm gluing down a heat shield but it'll be attached in a way that still allows the tunnel to be removed. The carpet will be cut to fit over this and I'm planning on losing all the wrinkles....I know it's authentic but the wrinkles aren't a good look...but that's just my $0.02

I was able to get rid of almost all the wrinkles using a steamer. There is one, but the console will hide it.
